Garden Island, Sydney NSW
Overview
Oak Services Group coordinated the removal of 11 sofas from HMAS Choules for our client Atlantic & Peninsula Australia.
Our aim was to find a reuse purpose for the sofas that were still in good condition.
Through research, we found ReLove – a registered charity supporting women and children impacted by domestic violence, people experiencing homelessness, men and women coming out of incarceration, and people seeking asylum.
We engaged Traden Construction School to assist us by providing the labour to load and unload the sofas.
Results
Of the 11 sofas, 3 of them were in good condition and were accepted by ReLove to be reused.
The remaining 8 sofas were in pieces and had rips and stains on them, so these went to a recycling centre, where the timber and other components will be recycled.
