4:06pm (on a Friday afternoon): Oak Services Group receives a call from our customer Fulton Hogan Egis, notifiying us of an unexpected discovery of contaminated material (identified as asbestos) on the side of the road near the Bexley off-ramp of the M5 Motorway in South-West Sydney.
The area was immediately isolated with temporary fencing and sign posted with ‘Asbestos’ in line with NSW SafeWork requirements.
Oak Services Group deployed a licensed asbestos remover direct to the site and by 5:20pm (just 74 minutes later), all asbestos material was completely and safely removed.
“Whilst this was an unexpected situation eventuating from the unfortunate and illegal actions of a member of public, it once again showcased the impressive emergency response capabilities of Oak Services Group,” said Fulton Hogas Egis Quality, Safety, Environment & Sustainability Manager, Justin Hazelbrook.
